Folly Beach is easily known as one of the best beaches in Charleston. (if not THE best)! It’s nicknamed the Edge of America as it’s one of the most relaxing places on Earth. Along with locals and tourists, artists often flock to Folly Beach so that they can paint the scenery. Put Folly at the top of your list!

There is swimming on the island; although, it does not have any beachfront commercial development or hotels and B&Bs. Thus, if you’re visiting as a tourist, you’ll want to ask a local where the safest places to swim are. The island does have some currents you’ll want to steer clear of.
