Tips for Attending San Diego Comic-Con 2019 with Kids

The first thing to remember is that children 12 and Under are FREE with a paying adult. If you’re bringing a child within the ages of 13-17 you will need to create a Comic-Con member ID and purchase a badge for them to attend comic-con 2019. Comic-Con San Diego is an awesome experience for kids, but it’s also over-crowded and overwhelming. Here are some tips on how to tackle the day or weekend with kids.

Tip #1 GO EARLY

Most Comic-Con attendees tend to participate in the late-night party activities which make early mornings the perfect time for kids. If you’re buying a one-day ticket go on a Sunday, it tends to be the lightest attended day of the convention. The downside is that most of the popular Hollywood Stars and events happen on Friday & Saturday.

Tip #2 STAY UP TO DATE

Most events and activities aren’t announced until July. Check out https://sdccblog.com/ to keep up with the most recent news.

Tip #3 TAKE THE TROLLEY

Avoid the stress of finding a parking spot downtown. It will be close to impossible with insane pricing. We recommend parking your vehicle at the Old Town Transit Center lot for free parking. From there you can hop on and ride down to the Convention Center. It takes about 10-15 minutes with a few stops along the way. You can buy an all-day pass for about $6 & children ride free.

Tip #4 TAKE PHOTOS

Most people that are in costumes are happy to pose for photos with the kids. It makes for great memories.

Tip #5 BRING A BACKPACK

Bring a bag or backpack to hold all the swag handed out throughout the day.

Tip #6 GO IN A COSTUME

Be apart of the con community by dressing up! For last minute costume ideas check out this blog by Desert Sun, 20 Awesome Last Minute Comic-Con Ideas.

Tip #7 PACK SNACKS OR LUNCH

The lines Downtown and in the Convention Center can get really long. Bringing snacks and lunch will help you avoid these long lines. With your all-day trolley pass, you can venture down a few stops to find lunch options away from the large crowds.

Tip #8 PICK A MEETING PLACE

With the large crowds, it’s a good idea to designate a meeting spot in case you get split up.
